Jared Roberts went the distance on the hill during the Cleveland Spider’s first win in two seasons on Sunday in men’s amateur baseball action.
Roberts used a series of off-speed pitches to gain control the New Richland Reds in an 11-5 triumph. The game was played on the Cleveland field.
Offensively it was a balanced attack by the Spiders with nine players picking up at least one hit.
There are a number of local athletes on the Spiders’ roster this year including Cleveland High School seniors Kyle Ziebarth and Josh Plonsky, Matt Collins and Jared Schloesser from Le Center and Mitch and Garrett Rohlfing from Cleveland. The team is managed by Mike Krenik.
The Spiders will be back in action on Saturday when they take on the Kato Cubs. The game will be played at Mankato East and is slated for 2:00 pm.
